This standalone ACS course focuses on Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) and is suitable for both initial assessment and 5-year reassessment. Includes refresher training and assessment, with optional appliance modules available.
The CCN1 Only course at Vulcana Training provides gas engineers with the essential qualification required to legally work on domestic gas installations. Whether you’re completing your first ACS assessment or renewing your existing certificate, this course delivers the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely and confidently with domestic gas systems.
CCN1 is the core module and a legal requirement for all domestic gas engineers. It forms the basis for any additional appliance modules, such as boilers or cookers, which can be taken alongside this course if required.
On successful completion, candidates will gain their CCN1 ACS certificate, valid for five years and necessary for Gas Safe registration.
CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety
Covers the fundamental requirements for domestic gas work, including:
Gas safety legislation and responsibilities
Pipework installation and pressure testing
Combustion, ventilation, and flueing
Emergency procedures and unsafe situations
Appliance tightness testing and purging
Includes both theory and practical assessments, with structured refresher training delivered at the start of the course.
You can choose to add appliance modules to your CCN1 course, either as part of your initial assessment or reassessment. These are commonly taken together for engineers working on a range of domestic appliances:
CENWAT – Boilers and water heaters
CKR1 – Domestic cookers
HTR1 – Gas fires and space heaters
DAH1 – Warm air heating
MET1 – Meters
These add-ons complement CCN1 and enable you to carry out full installation and servicing work on specific appliance types. Each module includes its own assessment.
