This ACS course certifies engineers to work on gas systems in mobile catering units such as food trucks and trailers. Candidates must hold both a valid commercial catering qualification (CCCN1 or CODC) and an LPG core (CCLP1 or CONGLP1 PD). Includes refresher training and assessment.
The Commercial Mobile Catering (CMC) course at Vulcana Training is designed for engineers working on mobile catering units, including food trucks, trailers, market stalls, and mobile kitchens. These systems typically operate on LPG, often in confined spaces and variable environments.
This qualification ensures engineers can legally and safely install, maintain, and test gas appliances and pipework in mobile catering settings. Refresher training is provided before assessment.
Important Note:
To take this course, candidates must already hold both:
A commercial catering qualification: CCCN1 or CODC
An LPG qualification: CCLP1 or CONGLP1 PD
This ensures competence in both the appliance type and the fuel system used in mobile catering.
CMC – Commercial Mobile Catering
Gas safety systems in mobile catering vehicles
LPG supply, cylinder storage, and changeover procedures
Pipework installation, tightness testing and purging
Appliance installation, ventilation and flueing
Flame supervision, control systems and safety checks
Regulatory compliance for mobile gas installations
VESLP1 / VESLP2 – Above- or below-ground LPG vessel qualifications
LAV – Leisure accommodation vehicles (LPG)
HTRLP2 – LPG fires and heaters for catering trailers with heating
This course is classed as an initial assessment. You must:
Hold a valid commercial catering qualification – CCCN1 or CODC
Hold a valid LPG qualification – CCLP1 or CONGLP1 PD
Be Gas Safe registered for a minimum of 12 months
Provide evidence of both qualifications at the time of booking
You may take the reassessment route if:
Your CMC certificate is still valid, or
It expired within the last 12 months, and
You still hold valid, in-date qualifications in both:
Commercial Catering (CCCN1 or CODC), and
LPG Core (CCLP1 or CONGLP1 PD)
If your CMC qualification expired more than 12 months ago, or your LPG and/or Commercial Catering qualifications are no longer in date, you must first renew those core qualifications, and then complete the initial assessment for CMC again.
