Commercial to Domestic Gas Changeover (COCDN1)

From 4 Days

From £1100 + VAT

This ACS course is for experienced commercial gas engineers looking to transition into domestic work. Covers Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) through a recognised changeover route. Includes refresher training and assessment.

Course Overview

The COCDN1 Commercial to Domestic Gas Changeover course at Vulcana Training is designed for qualified commercial gas engineers who wish to expand their scope to include domestic gas installations. This changeover route leads to certification in Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1), which is a legal requirement for working on domestic appliances.

By completing this course, engineers with a commercial background gain the knowledge and certification necessary to work on domestic systems, meeting Gas Safe requirements and broadening their work opportunities.

Refresher training is included as part of the course, ensuring all candidates are fully prepared for the assessments.

Course Modules / Elements:

COCDN1 – Changeover to Domestic Core Gas Safety (CCN1)
This module includes:

  • Domestic gas safety legislation and responsibilities

  • Installation standards and pipework sizing

  • Ventilation, flueing, and combustion analysis

  • Identifying and dealing with unsafe situations

  • Tightness testing and purging in domestic settings

Both theory and practical assessments are carried out as part of this course, following an initial refresher period.

Optional Add-on Modules:

After completing your changeover to domestic work, you can also choose to add domestic appliance assessments to expand your scope further:

  • CENWAT – Boilers and water heaters

  • CKR1 – Domestic cookers

  • HTR1 – Gas fires and space heaters

  • DAH1 – Warm air heating

  • MET1 – Meters

These modules can be booked alongside COCDN1 and assessed within the same visit if required.

Initial Assessment Prerequisites

This course is only available to candidates who:

  • Hold current in-date commercial gas qualifications (e.g. COCN1 or equivalent), and

  • Have relevant commercial gas experience

  • Have been registered with Gas Safe for a minimum of 12 months in the commercial category

You must provide evidence of your qualifications and Gas Safe registration at the time of booking.

This course leads to domestic CCN1 certification via the changeover route and is treated as an initial assessment.

Reassessment Prerequisites

COCDN1 is not available as a reassessment. Once you have completed this changeover and hold a valid CCN1 certificate, any future renewals will be completed via the standard CCN1 reassessment route, not through the commercial to domestic changeover process.
