Initial Assessment Prerequisites

This route is for candidates who either:

  • Previously held these qualifications, but they expired more than 12 months ago, or

  • Are completing their first ACS assessment and hold a valid Managed Learning Programme (MLP) certificate or equivalent recognised training.

Evidence of relevant qualifications must be provided at the time of booking.

Reassessment Prerequisites

If you are an existing Gas Safe registered engineer, you are required to renew your ACS qualifications every five years. To be eligible for reassessment, you must:

  • Hold a valid, in-date ACS certificate for CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR1, or

  • Have a certificate that expired less than 12 months ago.

If your qualification expired over 12 months ago, you will need to take the initial assessment route instead. Reassessment ensures your knowledge remains current with industry regulations and safety standards and helps avoid any interruption to your Gas Safe registration.
