This accredited OFTEC oil boiler training course covers oil safety (101), pressure jet appliances (105e), and oil storage tanks (600a). Ideal for new entrants or engineers renewing their qualifications. Includes refresher training and assessment.
The OFTEC Combination Package at Vulcana Training is designed for heating engineers who need to become qualified or renew their certification for working on oil-fired appliances and storage systems. This course covers three key modules: OFT101, OFT105e, and OFT600a – ensuring you are compliant and competent to work safely with oil heating systems.
The course includes structured refresher training followed by practical and written assessments. Successful candidates will be eligible to register with OFTEC and carry out work on domestic oil installations, pressure jet appliances, and oil storage systems.
OFT101 – Oil Safety and Practices
Core module covering the principles of oil combustion, flueing, ventilation, oil supply systems, and regulatory compliance.
OFT105e – Pressure Jet Appliances
Focuses on installation, commissioning, servicing and fault diagnosis of oil-fired boilers and pressure jet appliances in domestic settings.
OFT600a – Oil Storage and Supply Systems
Covers the installation and maintenance of oil tanks and associated pipework in accordance with environmental and building regulations.
Each module includes refresher training, followed by written and practical assessments.
Engineers who wish to expand their oil certification can add:
OFT102 – Oil-Fired Range Cookers
Covers the installation, servicing and commissioning of oil-fired cookers such as Agas and Rayburns. This module is ideal for engineers who work in rural or off-grid properties where oil-fired cooking appliances are common.
OFT102 can be added to this course if required and assessed during the same visit.
This route is for engineers who:
Previously held them but they expired more than 12 months ago
You should have relevant experience in plumbing, heating, or a related trade. Evidence of qualifications or prior experience must be provided at the time of booking.
This route is for engineers who:
Hold current certificates in OFT101, OFT105e, and OFT600a, or
Have certificates that expired within the last 12 months
If your qualifications are over 12 months out of date, the initial assessment route will apply.
All our courses include refresher training and are delivered in a supportive setting to help you feel confident and well-prepared for assessment.
Yes, training manuals and certificates are included in the course fees, except for OFTEC reassessment course training material, where are charged separately.
Any required study materials will be provided on the first day of your course. However, if you prefer to collect them in advance, you can do so by making prior arrangements with us.
With a 99.9% pass rate, it’s unlikely—but if you don’t pass, we’ll discuss your options, including reassessment and additional training if needed.
