This package covers installation and servicing of solid fuel appliances. Choose one or more modules: dry systems (OFT15-108D), wet systems (OFT15-108W), and/or combined systems (OFT15-108S). Includes refresher training and assessment.
The Solid Fuel Training Packages at Vulcana Training are designed for engineers working with log burners, solid fuel boilers, open fires and biomass appliances.
Delivered under OFTEC’s recognised training scheme, these modules help ensure installations are completed safely, in compliance with building regulations and manufacturer requirements. You may choose a single module or combine all three.
OFT15-108D – Dry Appliance Installation
For appliances like wood burners or open fires that do not include a back boiler or water heating circuit.
OFT15-108W – Wet Appliance Installation
Covers systems with boilers linked to wet central heating systems (e.g. solid fuel to radiators or cylinders).
OFT15-108S – Combined Appliance Installation
For systems that incorporate both wet and dry features in a single appliance or installation.
Each module includes both theory and practical training, with a short written assessment.
Combine any or all of the OFT15-108D, W or S modules
Pair with Part L or Water Regulations if required for building compliance
Consider OFTEC 101/105e/600a if working in oil and hybrid systems
This course is classed as an initial assessment. You must:
Have plumbing, heating or chimney-related trade experience
Provide relevant evidence of qualifications or on-the-job experience when booking
Be familiar with Building Regulations Part J and Part L (recommended)
Not applicable.
These qualifications do not have a formal reassessment route. When certification expires, the relevant module must be retaken as an initial assessment.
All our courses include refresher training and are delivered in a supportive setting to help you feel confident and well-prepared for assessment.
Yes, training manuals and certificates are included in the course fees, except for OFTEC reassessment course training material, where are charged separately.
Any required study materials will be provided on the first day of your course. However, if you prefer to collect them in advance, you can do so by making prior arrangements with us.
With a 99.9% pass rate, it’s unlikely—but if you don’t pass, we’ll discuss your options, including reassessment and additional training if needed.
