Course Overview

Our Unaccredited Training Packages at Vulcana Training offer a flexible way for engineers to meet common industry requirements for working with water systems and heating compliance. These modules are not part of the ACS scheme but are frequently required for MCS, manufacturer approval, and compliance with Building Regulations.

You can complete any combination of the following modules:

  • Unvented Hot Water (UVHW) – Required for installation and servicing of unvented hot water storage systems

  • Water Regulations (WRAS) – Covers the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999

  • Part L – Energy Efficiency – For demonstrating competence in system design and compliance with Building Regulations Part L

  • Legionella Prevention & Control – Focused on risk awareness and management in domestic and commercial water systems

Each module is delivered with trainer-led theory, followed by a short written assessment. Refresher content is included where applicable.

Optional Add-on Modules:

Initial Assessment Prerequisites

This course is classed as an initial assessment. You must:

  • Work within the plumbing, heating or building services sector

  • Have a basic understanding of domestic hot and cold water systems

  • Provide any relevant trade qualifications or experience at the time of booking

Reassessment Prerequisites

Not applicable.
These are one-time certification modules. If your certification has expired, simply retake the relevant module(s) as an initial assessment.

Yes, training manuals and certificates are included in the course fees, except for OFTEC reassessment course training material, where are charged separately.

Any required study materials will be provided on the first day of your course. However, if you prefer to collect them in advance, you can do so by making prior arrangements with us.

With a 99.9% pass rate, it’s unlikely—but if you don’t pass, we’ll discuss your options, including reassessment and additional training if needed.

Yes, we offer refresher training to help candidates prepare for reassessments. Contact us to discuss available options.

You will need to bring:

  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Your Gas Safe card or another official form of ID
  • Your current qualifications
  • If you are sitting an initial assessment, please check the initial assessment prerequisite section for specific requirements
  • If you are sitting a reassessment, please bring a copy of your current or recently expired certificate

Certificates are sent directly to your home address once they have been processed by the awarding body. Processing times can vary, so please allow some time for delivery.
